Useful information should make decisions clearer

Kittysum does not publish educational articles to turn every nutrition topic into a reason to buy another supplement. Our goal is to separate three different questions: what is a basic feline nutrition or care fact, what a specific product label can actually support, and when an individual question belongs with a veterinarian.

That distinction is why our guides encourage readers to review the complete diet, check the exact product label, and involve a veterinarian when the question becomes individual or medical.

Facts before claims

An ingredient having a biological role does not automatically prove that every supplement containing it produces a specific health outcome.

Serving directions, ingredients, warnings, and storage information should come from the exact current product label.

Review what is already in your cat's routine before changing it. More products do not automatically create better nutrition.

  1. Is the primary food intended to provide complete nutrition for your cat's life stage?
  2. Have you listed treats, toppers, homemade foods, powders, oils, vitamins, and other supplements?
  3. Have you read the exact ingredient list, directions, storage information, and cautions?
  4. Are you filling an identified nutritional need, or reacting to a symptom that should first be assessed?
  5. When appropriate, can you introduce one change at a time?

Taurine

Start with the complete diet

Cats require taurine through their diet, which makes taurine an important topic in feline nutrition. But an essential nutrient is not the same thing as an automatic supplement recommendation. Review the main diet, the current label, and the whole feeding plan first.
